What are YouTube Shorts?
YouTube Shorts is a short-form video feature similar to Instagram Reels and TikTok. Content creators are now able to record short videos of up to 60 seconds and add music/sound overlays within the YouTube app.
How to use YouTube Shorts Previews to promote your content
You can promote your upcoming releases in Shorts, by delivering a preview snippet ahead of the track’s official release date.
A preview art track video is then created and made available in the Shorts Music Library, starting at the date and time you specify in your feed.
The full-length art track will not be released until the specified asset release date. On the release date, YouTube will automatically update any Shorts that use the preview and redirect to the full-length art track. YouTube will also update the associated Shorts pivot page created using the preview.
How to set up a YouTube Shorts Preview in FUGA Next
If you deliver to YouTube via FUGA Aggregation, please follow the instructions below. If you deliver to YouTube over a direct feed, please see the instructions at the bottom of this page first to enable the YouTube Shorts preview feature.
Once the YouTube Shorts Preview feature is enabled, a new section will appear on the asset page, under Playtime & Preview:
Clicking the 'Configure YouTube Shorts Preview' button will allow you to edit the necessary metadata for your YouTube Shorts Preview. The following modal will appear:
Enter a YouTube Shorts Preview start date that precedes the original release date of the product. You also have the ability to enter a start time, with the option to release at the same local time for all time zones or one global time (UTC).
Save the changes and deliver your release to the YouTube Music & Content ID combined feed, or YouTube Music and YouTube Content ID.

FAQ
I have a direct connection with YouTube. How do I enable the YouTube Shorts Previews feature?
In order for the Shorts previews feature to work, a YouTube Shorts preview policy will need to be configured within the YouTube CMS before using the feature in FUGA Next.
Follow these steps to create the YouTube Shorts preview policy: https://support.google.com/youtube/answer/106964?hl=en#shorts
Important: Please ensure you set the policy name to FUGA_SHORTS_PREVIEWS. This is in case the policy name has a different title, in which case the Shorts preview will not become available.
Setting a Reference Match Amount
Generally, the length of the reference match amount should not exceed the preview length.
Setting the reference match amount will allow the specified length of the song to be used, even if it's across a different section of the track. Setting a match amount higher than the preview duration could risk allowing user generated content of portions of the track you did not intend to be released, for example, if a full song has been leaked.
