In March 2024, Spotify launched music videos in beta for Spotify Premium users across selected markets.
FUGA has been invited to participate, which means clients can now deliver music videos to Spotify. If you do not have an aggregation deal with FUGA, you will need to be invited directly by Spotify.
Please note that you can only deliver music videos that have been encoded by FUGA.
Delivery
To deliver your video products to Spotify, please use the Spotify Video feed.
Product requirements
Products need to adhere to the following requirements for successful delivery to Spotify Video:
- Video products must be encoded by FUGA prior to delivery. This ensures each video meets Spotify’s technical and curation requirements.
You can submit a video for encoding via FUGA Next after the video has been uploaded on asset level.
- Spotify only accepts Video Singles. These products should contain one video asset and one thumbnail image. Deliveries of video products that contain anything else, such as multiple videos or audio files, will be canceled.
- Only official music videos and live videos are accepted. Lyric videos or visualizer videos are not accepted.
- Video assets need to be assigned a unique ISRC but should be linked with the Audio Recording ISRC (details below) that matches the audio used in the video. This means that official music videos should be linked to the studio track, and live videos should be linked to the live audio recording of the same performance.
Audio Recording ISRC
For Spotify to successfully ingest and publish a music video, they require labels to provide the ISRC of the audio asset for which the music video was made. This enables Spotify to link the video to the audio so users can easily switch between the two.
The “Audio Recording ISRC” can be added in the music video asset view in FUGA Next. Use this field to associate a music video with its audio recording equivalent.
Music video deliveries to Spotify which do not contain an Audio Recording ISRC will be canceled.
Spotify 18+
To ensure that videos with offensive content are only viewed by those of an appropriate age, Spotify is implementing age restrictions for music videos under a new “Spotify 18+” tag. Videos with this tag will not be shown to users under the age of 18.
Please note this tag is distinct from the “Explicit” tag in FUGA Next, which relates to the lyrical content of a song. The “Spotify 18+” tag relates only to the visual content of a music video.
Please do not deliver content that falls under the below guidelines from Spotify on imagery and / or visual themes:
● Suicide and self-harm, including disordered eating
● Substance use, misuse, or abuse
● Graphic, shocking, or violent content
● Sexual content and nudity
● Repeated or prolonged visual profanity or vulgar language
