FUGA clients can now deliver to VEVO, one of the key DSPs for music videos.
While many users interact with VEVO through its integration with YouTube, VEVO also distributes its catalog to CTV (Connected TV), a linear and video-on-demand TV service on platforms such as Apple TV, Hulu, and Roku, providing further reach for video content.
As part of this feature, you will be able to:
- Deliver music video singles to VEVO CTV
- Specify a VEVO artist channel which makes the video available through VEVO on YouTube
- Include a Description and Keywords for your video.
How do I deliver music videos to VEVO?
Once VEVO has been added to your account you can deliver to them like any other DSP.
VEVO only accepts music video singles, so please ensure products delivered to VEVO:
- only contain one music video
- include one thumbnail image.
- adhere to their specifications listed here
How do I choose which VEVO service my video goes to?
All videos delivered to VEVO will be made available on VEVO CTV.
You can also deliver the video to VEVO on YouTube by selecting a VEVO Artist Channel for the video asset. A video sent to VEVO on YouTube can only be sent to one VEVO Artist Channel.
If a video is sent to VEVO CTV only it cannot be made available on VEVO YouTube afterwards unless the video is taken down and then redelivered with the change.
VEVO Artist Channels
How do I select an Artist Channel for VEVO on YouTube?
A new section on the asset page enables you to select a VEVO Artist Channel and add a description and keywords so your video can be delivered to VEVO on YouTube. If you don’t choose an artist channel, the video will only be delivered to VEVO’s CTV service.
The pop-up pictured below shows when you hit “Configure” on the “VEVO metadata and channel” on asset level. It includes a selection box listing the artist channels linked to the artists on the asset. The default selection is No channel selected (default), or you can choose one of the artist channels listed.
If your artist channel isn’t there, you need to link the artist channel to a FUGA artist (instructions below).
How do I link an Artist Channel to a FUGA artist?
Delivering to VEVO through FUGA Aggregation
To deliver videos to VEVO via a FUGA Aggregation feed, you need to submit a request for a VEVO Artist Channel to be connected to an artist in FUGA.
On the artist page in FUGA, go to the section titled ‘VEVO artist channel connection’. When you click ‘Link VEVO channel’ you can link an existing channel or request a new channel. Please check if an artist channel already exists on VEVO before requesting a new one. Your selection will then open a form for you to complete.
Once you submit the form, our Operations team will verify your request. As new channels must also be verified by VEVO’s operations team, please allow at least five business days in total for approval. Our operations team will inform you of the decision by email.
If the request is approved, the Artist Channel name will show in the 'VEVO artist channel connection' section of the artist page and you will be able to select this Artist Channel for any music video asset that includes this artist. You will also have the option to unlink the channel.
Delivering to VEVO with a direct deal
If you’re delivering videos to VEVO under the FUGA Aggregation license, you can connect a VEVO artist channel to your FUGA artist directly.
On the artist page in FUGA go to the section titled ‘VEVO artist channel connection’. When you click ‘Link VEVO channel’ you’ll see a popup where you can input the artist channel name. This channel must already exist on VEVO - if you need a new artist channel please request this from VEVO directly.
What are the requirements for requesting a new Artist Channel?
Please note: if you deliver to VEVO via a direct feed, please request a new Artist Channel directly with VEVO.
New Artist Channel requests must be approved first by FUGA and then by VEVO. Please allow around 3 working days for the FUGA for your request to be approved or denied before it is passed on to the VEVO team, who will process the request in 2 working days.
VEVO will check the submission against the following requirements:
- The channel name must align with the artist or brand name. Slight variations are allowed. For instance, John Mayer can be:
- JohnMayerVEVO
- JohnMayerOfficialVEVO
- JohnMayerMusicVEVO
- Sometimes multiple artists share a name. For artist channels, you cannot share the same artist channel with an artist of the same name.
For instance, if an artist with the same name already has an ArtistVEVO channel, you cannot also use that channel.
In such cases, we suggest appending words like "Official" or "Music" after the artist's name (but before "VEVO") to create a unique channel name.
-
- JohnMayerOfficialVEVO
- JohnMayerMusicVEVO
- The channel name cannot include any spaces or special characters (alphanumeric only).
- The character limit is 20, including "VEVO", which must be capitalized.
Can I change the Artist Channel once I’ve delivered a video to VEVO?
Once a video has been delivered, VEVO will not accept further updates to the channel through redeliveries - the delivery will fail to ingest at VEVO. This includes:
-
adding a channel when there wasn’t one before, i.e. when it was previously only available on VEVO CTV
- removing a channel
- changing the VEVO channel on a video asset
To action these changes, please take down the video product from VEVO and then redeliver it with the desired change.
