All videos delivered to iTunes must be encoded by an iTunes authorised encoding house. This is a requirement by iTunes. We have automated this process as much as possible. The costs of iTunes video encoding are specified in your agreement with FUGA.
Please check the iTunes style guide to check whether your video is eligible for their platform, prior to submitting it for encoding. Most importantly, iTunes/Apple Music does not allow subtitles and lyric videos will not be accepted.
Once you have uploaded the video into your FUGA video asset, you will be able to submit the video for iTunes encoding. FUGA’s encoding house is notified automatically upon your submission and will start encoding the video, which will be completed in max. 72 hours. Once the encoding is complete, you will receive a notification email, and in the music video asset you will see that the iTunes encoding status reads “encoding complete”.
Please make sure to take a screenshot from the video as a preview image. Make sure it is 640x400 pixels large (minimum size). Failure to upload correct preview images will result in an error on delivery.
For iTunes, the preview image or thumbnail must have an aspect ratio of 16:9. The best option to use is 1920x1080 pixels. The preview image must be an actual still from the video, but can't contain any black bars on the outer side of the image. It's also not possible to add logos or text to this image.
Please refer to our guide How do I upload a video in FUGA Next? for further information.
