DSPs have different ways in which they calculate the revenue per stream. The average streaming rate can fluctuate due to several factors such as:
- sales period
- territory (for example, a stream in Mexico can be worth ten times less than in Finland)
- sales type (the rate per stream for user generated content is lower or non-royalty bearing)
- dependence on advertisement income and the DSP pro-rata share (for example, Youtube Ad Supported streams can fluctuate greatly due to the dependence on advertisement income)
- advertising budgets
- backdated reporting
