Introduction
This article explains how to prepare and deliver Motion Art for eligible Apple Music releases using the FUGA Platform. It outlines supported formats, video specifications, and step-by-step guidance for uploading assets through the FUGA Platform interface or via automated delivery methods such as Extensible Markup Language (XML) or Application Programming Interface (API) ingestion.
Overview
Motion Art is a visual enhancement feature on Apple Music that adds short, looping videos to album pages. These silent video clips help bring digital releases to life by reinforcing the mood, atmosphere, or concept of a music album or single. Apple Music Motion Art consists of two separate video files in different aspect ratios:
1:1 ratio: Displayed on album pages on Mac, iPad, and smart TVs
3:4 ratio: Displayed on album pages on iPhone
Motion Art is supported for the following Apple Music release formats only:
Music Single
Music Album
Mixed Media Album
Note: Music Video Singles and Music Video Albums are currently not supported.
Requirements for Submission
To include Motion Art in a delivery to Apple Music via FUGA:
Both video files (1:1 and 3:4) must be uploaded.
Files must pass technical validation; the FUGA Platform will display specific reasons if validation fails (e.g., incorrect duration, frame rate, or codec).
Once delivered, Motion Art files cannot be removed from Apple Music without a full takedown and reinsertion under a new Universal Product Code (UPC).
Files that do not meet Apple’s specifications will be rejected during delivery validation.
