Introduction
This article explains how to create a new product in the FUGA Interface, including how to upload assets and complete the required metadata. It also outlines guidelines for formatting, artist attribution, cover art, and global delivery requirements to ensure your release is DSP-compliant and ready for approval.
Step 1: Create the Product
To begin creating your product:
- In the top-right corner of the FUGA interface, click Create and select Product.
- Enter the Product Title.
- Do not include version descriptors such as "Deluxe" or "Radio Edit" in this field.
- Upload the cover artwork by clicking the record icon.
- Click Create. Your product is now saved as a Draft.
Step 2: Add Assets (Tracks)
Once your product is in Draft status:
To add existing assets:
- Click Add Existing and select assets from your catalog.
To upload new assets:
- Click Add New > Upload New.
- Click Add Files to select and upload audio.
- Enter an Asset Title and optional Track Version (e.g., “Instrumental”).
- Do not include brackets in the version name.
- Click Create Assets. Upload begins automatically.
Assign artist(s):
- Use the Artist Picker to search for and assign artists.
- Select an existing artist or click Add As New.
- Assign appropriate roles: Primary (required) or Featuring.
Step 3: Complete Product Metadata
Fill in the following metadata fields under the Product tab:
Label
- Search and select an existing label or enter a new one.
Format
- Choose from:
- Single: 1–3 tracks, each under 10 minutes
- EP: 1–3 tracks (1 track 10+ min) or 4–6 tracks, total < 30 mins
- Album: 7+ tracks or >30 minutes total runtime
- Boxset: Multi-volume product
Explicit Content
- Choose: Explicit, Clean, or Not Explicit
- If any track is marked Explicit, the full product must be as well.
Identifiers
- UPC / EAN: 12-digit identifier (Request via support@fuga.com if needed)
- Catalog Number: Internal reference (can match the UPC if unique)
Release Dates
- Original Release Date: First public release of this product
- Consumer Release Date: When it becomes live on DSPs
- Pre-order Date (optional): Must precede Consumer Release Date
Copyright Details
- (C) Year: Copyright year for the product/artwork
- (C) Text: Name of copyright owner
- (P) Year: Year the master recording was released
- (P) Text: Name of rights holder for the master
- Do not include publishing or songwriter details here
Genres
- Select one DSP-compliant Main Genre from the dropdown
- Add an optional Subgenre (free-text)
Catalog Tier
- Choose from: Premium, Front, Mid, Back, Budget
Metadata Language
- Defaults to English. Update if different.
Territories
-
If not distributing worldwide, specify territories or excluded regions.
Important Notes
- Required fields are marked with an asterisk (*).
- If metadata is incomplete, the FUGA Interface will display a Missing Metadata banner.
- Click the banner for a checklist of what needs to be completed.
Tip: Copy Fields Across Assets
To save time:
- Click Other Actions > Copy Fields.
- Select the fields to copy (e.g., artist, label).
- Choose the assets to apply them to.
- Click Copy.
This is especially useful for products with multiple tracks by the same artist.
