This article explains how to create and configure an individual asset within the FUGA Interface. You will learn how to enter required metadata, assign artist roles, manage copyright details, and set contributor and publisher credits. Completing these configuration steps is required for proper asset approval and seamless delivery to Digital Service Providers (DSPs).
Create the Asset
Open the relevant product.
Under the Tracklist section, click UPLOAD NEW.
Click + ADD FILES to select and upload audio files. Ensure files adhere to required audio specifications before uploading.
Enter an Asset Title and an optional Track Version (e.g., Instrumental). Do not manually enter brackets or parentheses in the version name as formatting is applied automatically per DSP specifications.
Click Create Assets. Upload will begin automatically.
Assigning Artists to the Asset
Open the asset.
Click + ADD ARTIST under the Artists section.
Type out the exact artist name, including casing and special characters.
Select the existing artist or, if creating a new artist entry, click ADD AS NEW.
-
Assign a role:
Primary: Main performing artist (required).
Featuring: Guest appearance.
Repeat this process to add multiple artists as needed.
Entering Main Asset Metadata
Complete the following track metadata fields:
Title: The name of the track as it should appear publicly.
Version Title (optional): Add descriptors (e.g., Live, Remix). Do not enclose version text in brackets or parentheses.
ISRC (International Standard Recording Code): Enter the official code assigned by your national ISRC agency.
Recording Year: The year the track was created or recorded.
Asset Copyright
Complete the following copyright details:
(P) Year: The year of first public release.
(P) Text: The name of the master rights owner (e.g., label or rights holder).
Note: Do not enter publishing or songwriting information in these fields.
Genre and Subgenre
Main Genre (required): Select a genre from the dropdown list. This value is used for DSP delivery.
Subgenre (optional): Free-text field. Type a new entry or reuse an existing value. If a DSP does not support subgenres, only the Main Genre will be delivered.
Playtime and Preview Settings
Configure DSP playback behavior using these settings:
Playtime: Track duration formatted in MM:SS and total seconds.
Preview Start: Custom cue point entered strictly in integer seconds (e.g., enter 62 for a start time of 1:02).
Preview Length: Defaults to 30 seconds. It is recommended to leave this value unchanged.
Language and Explicit Content
Metadata Language: The language used in the track title. Defaults to English.
Explicit Content: Select Explicit, Clean, or Not Explicit. If any asset within a product is explicit, you must also manually mark the product as explicit at the product level.
Audio Language: The spoken or sung language of the lyrics. Select Instrumental if applicable.
Availability, Rights, and Tier Settings
Only adjust these advanced fields if necessary:
Rights Claim Policy: To learn more how to navigate this, please refer to Managing Per-DSP Rights Claim Policies.
Asset Release Date: Used for pre-orders or delayed availability. Leave blank unless specifically instructed.
Catalog Tier: Determines pricing tiering. Options include Front, Mid, and Back.
Available Separately: Enabled (ON) by default. Disabling this setting may prevent the track from being sold individually on DSPs.
Contributors and Publishing Information
To add contributors:
Click Add Contributor.
Search for an existing contributor or enter a new name.
Assign a role. To assign multiple roles to the same individual, add the contributor again and select the secondary role.
Common contributor roles include:
Composer: Real name (ideally registered with a Performing Rights Organization (PRO)).
Lyricist: Real name (ideally registered with a PRO).
Producer: Real name or professional alias.
Remixer: Must match the credit listed in the Version field if utilized.
Please find more detailed information on all roles and instruments in the article Contributor Metadata: Roles, Instruments, and Technical Mappings.
To add publishers:
Click Add Publisher.
Select the associated Composer or Lyricist.
Select a publisher from the list or choose Add As New. Use official Interested Parties Information (IPI) registered names only. Avoid administrative expansions or informal name formats.
Note: If a writer has multiple publishers, enter the writer separately for each publisher. Always adhere strictly to formatting rules to prevent delivery rejections from DSPs.
