Introduction
This article explains how to deliver music videos to VEVO using the FUGA Interface. VEVO is a key Digital Service Provider (DSP) for music videos, distributing content via Connected TV (CTV) platforms and VEVO on YouTube. This guide covers delivery requirements, selecting artist channels, and best practices for ensuring your content is correctly ingested by VEVO.
Overview
VEVO is accessible to FUGA clients through the FUGA Aggregation feed. VEVO distributes content to:
- VEVO CTV: a linear and video-on-demand service on platforms such as Apple TV, Hulu, and Roku.
- VEVO on YouTube: available via official VEVO Artist Channels.
By delivering music videos to VEVO through FUGA, you can:
- Deliver music video singles to VEVO CTV.
- Specify a VEVO Artist Channel to publish the video on VEVO's YouTube network.
- Add a description and keywords to optimize visibility.
Delivery Requirements
Before delivering to VEVO, ensure:
- VEVO has been added to your account. Contact your FUGA representative if it is not available.
- Only music video singles are included in the product.
- One thumbnail image is attached.
- All content complies with VEVO's technical specifications.
Delivering to VEVO Services
All deliveries to VEVO via FUGA will default to VEVO CTV. To deliver to VEVO on YouTube, select a VEVO Artist Channel during asset configuration.
Note: A video delivered to VEVO CTV without an Artist Channel cannot later be updated to include YouTube delivery unless it is taken down and redelivered with the channel specified.
Selecting a VEVO Artist Channel
To select a VEVO Artist Channel:
- Navigate to the asset page within the FUGA platform.
- Click Configure on the VEVO metadata and channel section.
- In the pop-up, select the relevant VEVO Artist Channel linked to the artist.
- Add a description and keywords.
If no channel is selected, the video will be delivered to VEVO CTV only.
If the required channel is not listed, you must link it to a FUGA artist (see next section).
Linking a VEVO Artist Channel to a FUGA Artist
- Navigate to the artist page in the FUGA platform.
- Locate the VEVO artist channel connection section.
- Click Link VEVO channel.
- Choose to link an existing channel or request a new one.
- Complete the form provided.
The Operations team will verify your request. VEVO's operations team must also approve new channels, so allow at least five business days for processing. You will be notified via email upon completion.
Once approved, the Artist Channel name will appear on the artist page, allowing you to select it when delivering any music video asset linked to the artist. You can also unlink channels when necessary.
Requirements for New Artist Channels
When requesting a new Artist Channel (via Aggregation or direct request to VEVO):
- The channel name must reflect the artist or brand name.
- Variations are permitted to ensure uniqueness, e.g.:
- JohnMayerVEVO
- JohnMayerOfficialVEVO
- JohnMayerMusicVEVO
- No spaces or special characters (alphanumeric only).
- Maximum of 20 characters including "VEVO" (capitalized).
Approval typically takes:
- 3 business days for FUGA approval.
- 2 business days for VEVO verification.
Restrictions on Changing Artist Channels Post-Delivery
Once delivered, VEVO does not permit updates to the assigned Artist Channel. Redeliveries attempting to:
- Add an Artist Channel where none was previously selected.
- Remove an assigned Artist Channel.
- Change to a different Artist Channel.
...will be rejected by VEVO.
Timed Releases on VEVO
You can schedule video releases on VEVO by specifying the Consumer Release Time within the Default Dates of the product or by defining a Release Time specifically for VEVO in the Product Delivery Instructions.
Videos without a specified release time default to midnight 00:00 PST (08:00 UTC).
