How to Upload a Music Video in the FUGA Interface

This article explains how to create and upload a video product in the FUGA Interface. It covers setting up the video product, configuring asset details, uploading thumbnail artwork at both product and asset levels, completing mandatory metadata, and submitting the asset for Apple Music encoding prior to delivery.

Creating a Video Product

To create and upload a new video product in the FUGA Interface:

  1. Click Create in the top-right corner of the FUGA Interface homepage.
  2. Enter the product title and click Create to open the product editor.
  3. Under the Tracks section, click UPLOAD NEW.
  4. Set the Asset Type dropdown menu to Music Video.
  5. Click Add file and select your video file from your device.
  6. Ensure your file meets FUGA’s video specifications before uploading. See our article on What Are The Video Requirements for Upload? for full specifications.
  7. Complete all mandatory metadata fields:
    • Universal Product Code (UPC) / European Article Number (EAN)
    • International Standard Recording Code (ISRC): This code must be unique and must not match the ISRC used for an audio version of the track.

 

Uploading Thumbnails

Every video requires a preview image (thumbnail), which must be a still image taken directly from the video.

Thumbnail specifications:

  • Minimum size: 640 x 400 pixels
  • Recommended size for Apple Music / iTunes: 1920 x 1080 pixels (16:9 aspect ratio)
  • Requirements: Must be an actual frame from the video, must not contain black bars, and must not include added logos or text overlays.

Thumbnails must be uploaded in two locations within the product setup:

  1. Product level: Upload the thumbnail image in the Artwork section of the product editor.
  2. Asset level: From the product editor, navigate to the asset by clicking the video title under Tracklist. Under the Preview Image section, click UPLOAD to attach the thumbnail image.

 

Apple Music Encoding

If you intend to deliver the video to Apple Music or iTunes, encoding is required prior to delivery.

To submit a video asset for encoding:

  1. Navigate to the asset level by clicking the video title under Tracklist.
  2. Under the Music Video section, locate the iTunes encoding field.
  3. Click the ENCODE button located on the right side of the iTunes encoding field.

Once initiated, the file is sent to the FUGA encoding team. You will receive a confirmation email once encoding is complete.

Note: Wait until encoding has been confirmed before scheduling delivery. Early delivery attempts may result in delivery failure.
