This article explains the strategies for managing pre-release campaigns on Meta platforms, specifically Instagram and Facebook, using the FUGA Platform. Users will learn how to navigate Meta’s unique ingestion process to ensure music is protected before its Consumer Release Date while maintaining consolidated analytics across the ecosystem.
Warning: Meta Full-Track Delivery
When using the standard pre-release functions within the FUGA Interface for Meta, the system delivers the full audio track to the DSP (Digital Service Provider) rather than a preview clip. To prevent a full track from becoming available in the official Music Library before the Consumer Release Date, utilize one of the two strategies outlined below.
Strategy 1: The Meta-Only Product Method
This is the most secure method to control the specific audio available in the official Music Library.
Navigate to Catalog > Products and create a unique product specifically for Meta.
Assign a unique UPC (Universal Product Code) and ISRC (International Standard Recording Code) to this snippet.
Manually trim the audio file to the desired length (e.g., 30 or 60 seconds) prior to uploading.
Deliver this specific product only to Meta.
Under each asset in the Other section, use the Asset Release Date field to "waterfall" different clips leading up to the primary Consumer Release Date.
Once the official Consumer Release Date arrives, deliver the full album or single via your primary product setup.
Strategy 2: The Original Audio Method
This workflow is preferred for campaigns driven by organic trends and artist-led content within the app.
Step A: Pre-Release (Before official delivery)
The artist uploads a Reel using the audio as "Original Audio."
The artist should rename the original audio immediately (e.g., "Track Title - Pre-Release"). Note that audio can only be renamed once. It is not necessary to include the artist's name as the username is already displayed.
Step B: Post-Release (After official delivery)
Once the official release is delivered to Meta via the FUGA Platform, Instagram will typically attempt to attribute the Reel to the official licensed audio automatically.
If the Reel does not automatically map to the official song page, contact your FUGA representative or reach out via our support channel to submit a manual attribution request with the following details:
Track Name
Songwriter Name
Original Audio / Reel URL
ISRC (International Standard Recording Code)
Territory Rights
Timestamp
When successful, users clicking the audio link on the original reel will be redirected to the official licensed Music Library page.
Comparison: Snippets vs. Original Audio
Snippets (via Digital Distribution feed): Offers immediate monetization via the licensed library. However, it can lead to analytics splits between the snippet/s and the full track.
Original Audio (In-App): Provides a cleaner presentation; however, this may require manual attribution later and may result in a delay in official mapping.
Unlike other platforms, Meta allows full tracks to be available upon delivery. If a snippet is required, you must upload a clipped file.
If you are unsure of your configuration, you can create the product in Draft mode and contact your FUGA representative to review the setup before selecting Deliver.
