Introduction
This article explains how Digital Service Providers (DSPs) may report different levels of detail in their royalty statements. The information provided in your statement can vary depending on the DSP, the type of service offered, and the sales format. This article highlights common variations and where to find additional data when available.
Overview of Data Reporting
DSPs may not always report full data in their statements. This can include missing details such as territories, store types, or sales type. Additionally, Download Sales Types may not report International Standard Recording Code (ISRC) identifiers.
Other data fields, such as Sale Type or User Type, also depend on the specific services a DSP provides.
Examples by DSP
-
Amazon
Downloads on Amazon do not require a subscription, which means there is no user type associated with the transaction. As a result, this information will not appear in your monthly statement. -
Spotify
Spotify offers multiple subscription tiers such as individual, family, or student plans. Your statement will reflect which type of user generated a particular stream. -
YouTube
Additional information that is not included in the standard royalty file can be found in the YouTube extended file. This includes fields specific to YouTube reporting such as YouTube Video ID, YouTube Video Title, YouTube Channel ID, YouTube Channel Display Name, YouTube Asset Type, and YouTube Claim Type.
Notes
- The reporting detail you receive depends on the agreements and data provided by each DSP.
